The second chess discussion will be Tuesday 7/15! Thank you for those that participated on 7/10. Anyone can start on 7/15, regardless of whether you attended on 7/10.

The benefits of chess are numerous! Logical thinking, risk taking analysis, memory, critical thinking, planning ahead, problem-solving, remaining calm under pressure, and creativity are just some of the skills enhanced from chess.
“The game of chess is not merely an idle amusement; several very valuable qualities of the mind are to be acquired and strengthened by it, so as to become habits ready on all occasions, for life is a kind of chess” (Benjamin Franklin).
This course will cater to all levels, from those that are just learning the game to those that have been playing for years. Students will learn about piece movement, the fundamentals of the game, key checkmate patterns, and basic chess tactics.
First meeting is scheduled for Thursday July 10 at 9:00 A.M.
