What does a school week look like at GCE?

Your school week consists of four days of offline curriculum work and reading and then a one-day online class discussion and presentation led by an instructor/mentor.

Each class meeting is four hours long, and broken down into four main subjects per grade level. During the mentor-led meeting, students will have interactive discussion through a series of questions and dialogue to cover each subject in depth. This can be accomplished through the tools of learning, which is inclusive of the 5 common topics of Classical Education. The 5 common topics are, definition, comparison, relationship, circumstance, and testimony. Each subject will be generally 50 minutes long with 10 minute breaks in-between subjects. Students will present and talk about completed work, have conversation about what they learned, and preview next weeks work.

What work is required during the week?

Through our provided agenda, each student will have approximately four hours of homework, four days a week, covering topics such as: essay writing, exposition, science, research, history, traditional logic and debate.

Our agenda is here to help guide your student’s work; you as the parent are ultimately responsible for making sure your child completes the work to meet their education credits as it pertains to your local requirements.

As a parent or guardian what are my responsibilities?

Get Classically Educated is a homeschool curriculum and tool to help guide students in a successful learning endeavor. As a homeschooler or PEP participant, parents and guardians are still their child’s responsible teacher. You are responsible for your students behavior, previewing and grading submitted work and content, and knowing what work you would like our student to complete.
