Test Day Requirements: CLT10
Students taking the test at home will need a proctor (an adult 21 or older who is able to supervise and assist with instructions and timekeeping). Please note that this is different from the remotely proctored CLT.
The at-home CLT10 is administered online.* All testers must have:
- A laptop, desktop computer, or tablet (sorry, no phones)
- A stable internet connection
- Chrome or Firefox browsers
*Schools may choose to administer the CLT10 on paper.
CLT is a standardized assessment geared towards HomeSchoolers
Classic Learning Test (CLT) provides academic assessments for Grades 3-12 that evaluate reading, grammar, writing, and mathematics.
Designed to serve students from a variety of educational backgrounds, our assessments emphasize timeless academic skills and promote critical and logical thinking. By including reading passages from classic and historical texts, CLT exams offer a unique opportunity to engage students with the influential authors and ideas that have shaped history and culture.
The CLT exams are specifically made with homeschoolers in mind. The CLT exams can be taken completely online, and they are shorter than competing exams. Additionally, the CLT tests do not have any red tape for registration, making it accessible to anyone, regardless of their educational format.
– The CLT tests offer in-depth analytics that show parents the gaps in a student’s learning along with their academic strengths.
– The CLT exams are the only exams that feature classic literature and the Great Books. Unlike other standardized exams, CLT exams are in no way aligned with Common Core curriculum. The texts are timeless—works that have formed our Western Civilization.
– Other exams such as the ACT and SAT have vague language or trick questions on the exam. They are not testing so much on academic ability, but how well a student performs on the ACT/SAT. On the other hand, CLT exams strive for transparency and clarity by asking direct questions that truly measure a student’s skill.
– Unlike the ACT and SAT, the CLT offers free, unlimited score sharing to colleges.
Who can proctor
Because CLT believes parents are their children’s primary educators, there are no certifications necessary to proctor CLT exams. A proctor must be a responsible party, 21 years or older. Parents can proctor their own children for CLT3-CLT10, but the CLT must be proctored by a non-relative of the student.
