What each subject looks like
Here is what your child actually does.

Every subject in the weekly agenda has two parts: the plan for class day, and the work done at home any time that fits your week.

EExpositionWriting and grammar+

ON CLASS DAY

  • Open with homework, then a short grammar lesson, like parts of speech
  • Read a short paragraph together and build a keyword outline, using only three words per line
  • Retell the paragraph in their own words from the outline

AT HOME

  • Find examples of the week’s grammar in a book or sign at home
  • Retell the class paragraph to a parent using just the key words
  • Some weeks the homework is all talking, with no writing at all
LLogicPuzzles and mysteries+

ON CLASS DAY

  • Learn what a clue is, and how detectives and scientists use evidence instead of guessing
  • Solve puzzles together on the shared screen, saying out loud why each answer fits

AT HOME

  • Find one answer at home that came from a clue and not a guess
  • Be ready to explain the clue that helped

ON CLASS DAY

  • Talk about community: the people who live, work and help each other
  • Learn why rules exist and how a community uses them
